Work Environment

This is a remote role with a typical work schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You will utilize a secure telehealth platform to conduct assessments and therapy sessions, allowing you to connect meaningfully with clients from the comfort of their own homes. The remote work setting enables flexibility and work-life balance while maintaining a strong focus on delivering empathetic and personalized care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify their specific emotional and psychological needs.
  • Provide individualized and group counseling sessions to address the complex emotional challenges faced by seniors, including grief, anxiety, and life transitions.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement tailored care plans that support the unique needs of geriatric patients.
  • Educate families and staff about effective strategies to promote mental well-being and enhance the overall quality of life for elderly individuals.
  • Lead grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families navigating end-of-life challenges.
  • Implement cognitive stimulation programs and evidence-based interventions aimed at improving mental acuity among elderly clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on seniors who are coping with a variety of emotional difficulties arising from age-related changes, loss of loved ones, and significant life transitions. The patient population encompasses diverse backgrounds, requiring an understanding of cultural nuances and a respectful approach when addressing complex emotional issues.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
  • Possession of a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
  • At least 4 years of recent experience working in geriatric mental health counseling with elderly patients.
  • Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based practices tailored to the elderly population.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster trust and rapport with older adults.
  • Empathy and cultural awareness to effectively engage with elderly clients from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
  • Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging issues is highly beneficial.
  • Experience delivering therapy remotely, with knowledge of telehealth best practices.
