Job description

As the Washington State Commercial Business Development Executive with American Family Insurance, you will build relationships and connections with a select core of current and prospect "high growth potential agencies" within a geographic territory representing commercial lines products.
In this primarily field-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working in Washington, directly interacting with customers, Agents, and Agency Staff. On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training, and culture events.
You will report to the Director, Regional Sales.

Position Compensation Range:

$111,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • You will prospect and appoint agents with the overall regional strategy for the expansion of distribution outlets.
  • You will utilize market analytics to assess geographic territory to identify prospective and current customers with highest growth potential.
  • You will appoint new customers based on book transfer or significant flow potential.
  • You will identify vulnerable competitors within assigned agency plant to leverage book roll and or book thinning opportunities.
  • You will build detailed business plans for assigned agents.
  • You will determine appropriate visitation and establish an agreed to contact schedule for assigned agents based upon book transfer and significant flow opportunities.
  • You will possess a strong knowledge of the territory and the region including agency, competitor, demographics and economic trends
  • You will be responsible for 30 in-person and 12 virtual agent visits/month

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

  • Proven experience developing business across the territory, leveraging deep knowledge of regional market dynamics-including independent agency landscapes, competitor positioning, customer demographics, and local economic trends-to identify and prospect commercial lines growth opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to navigate an organization and leverage relationships.
  • Demonstrate resiliency.
  • Strong knowledge of business process improvement methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize and work independently.
  • Commercial lines and farm/ranch insurance experience.

Licenses

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 75%.

Physical Requirements

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

In this primarily field role, you will work a territory in WA. You can live in Seattle, Yakima, Spokane or Richland, WA.
