Job Overview

Komatsu is Looking for a skilled tradesperson in the Longview, TX area that specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and fluid systems. This position requires extensive knowledge of mechanical components as well as safety codes and regulations. Skills of the Industrial Mechanic range in level of experience and progression but will include general millwright, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding and fabrication, carpentry, concrete, and heavy equipment operations. They must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient.
The work of Industrial Mechanics can often be physically demanding. Installation and repair activities of equipment often requires the need to kneel, crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time. They must also be able to operate tools and measuring devices in close quarters and provide control and accuracy.
Industrial Mechanics must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions. They must also be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position as well as being capable of completing tasks with limited supervision.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work Safely and be an advocate for safety.
This position requires safe work habits and performance, advocacy for safe work conditions, ability to perform risk analysis and determine safe methods for all conditions encountered.
Ability to read and interpret machine prints and schematics for machines, piping systems, fabrications, as well as hydraulic and pneumatics.
Troubleshoot complex machine and process problems using a logical approach to identify and determine corrective actions, including root cause analysis of failures.
Demonstrate knowledge and practices for proper task planning from establishment of job scope to determination of materials/part needs and proper sequence for execution of the task.
Perform mechanical repairs and replacements involving pneumatic and hydraulic systems, plumbing, HVAC and other fluid/piped systems and equipment.
Preventive maintenance of mechanical power transmission equipment, setup and alignment of gear and belt driven equipment.
Some electrical knowledge.
Qualifications/Requirements
High School Diploma or GED. Technical School Certificate or Degree Program in Mechanical Maintenance.
Previous experience (2 to 3 years) as Industrial Mechanic, Military, or industry requiring license/certification by regulatory agency (i.e. ASE, Plumbing, etc.) that involves use of tools and machinery.
Computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and abilities to prepare machine condition reports.
Comfortable working at heights up to 60 feet.
Must provide own tools (primarily hand tools but will be provided a minimum tool list). Precision measuring equipment, safety equipment, large hand tools, and power tools are company provided.
1st Shift (6:00am-2:30pm). This shift will be required to work some scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend shifts, and some holiday periods.
Entrance testing to determine knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the position.
Must be able to pass drug test and physical examination.
