Job description


Lorain County Community College is seeking adjunct instructors to teach electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, or masonry lectures and labs that include the skills, concepts, instruments, tools, and materials used in the specific trade. Students will have hands on training in project based classes in the specific trade.
All adjunct construction program faculty members must be able to: Maintain lab equipment; Adapt teaching methods to meet the varying needs and interests of students; Administer and grade tests, evaluate students, prepare weekly classes and performance testing based on the specific trade's curriculum; Demonstrate experience in the specific trade per code requirements; Demonstrate a working knowledge and appreciation of all safety practices related to the specific trade; Demonstrate the use of tools for the specific trade; Read and understand codes and blueprints for the specific trade; Lift 40 lbs and be able to stand on concrete for the duration of the labs; Teach evenings or weekends; Operate a computer to post syllabus, grades, and attendance; Adhere to College policies and procedures; Be responsive to student questions and requests for assistance; Participate in the assessment of student academic achievement; Attend Fall Convocation and/or adjunct faculty development; Support the College's mission, vision, and values; Fulfil all contracted hours as scheduled
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: At least 10 years work experience in the specific trade applying to teach.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Teaching experiencein the specific trades.
