General Summary
The Ranch Caretaker is the primary caretaker and laborer on the college's 120 acre livestock and farm operation at the Odessa College Rodeo Ranch - the Graham Center in Gardendale, TX.
Specific Position Duties
The Ranch Caretaker will assist and ensure that the Graham Center is clean, habitable, pleasing and safe. The care taker will be responsible for continuous upkeep, upgrades and maintenance of the Odessa College Rodeo Ranch - Graham Center - ensuring and sustaining the high standards of Odessa College , the ranch and the rodeo team. Duties and work will include: -Maintenance and upkeep of ranch buildings, barns, fences, and equipment - painting, janitorial -Maintenance and upkeep of pastures, paddocks, pens, and other outdoor areas -Raking, cleaning, irrigation, irrigation equipment maintenance, and tree cutting -Maintenance of Graham Center vehicles and equipment with assistance from the college motor pool -Maintenance of arena grounds for practices, jackpots, and schools -Disking, watering, and dragging for daily practices -Preparation of fields for spring and fall planting, plant pastures, and fertilize -Cut and bale all of the hay on the Graham Center on a schedule agreed upon with the ranch manager -Transport hay from fields to barn after cutting and bailing -Observe livestock for illness or injury and report any abnormalities to Physical Plant and/or veterinarian -Supervise and conduct feeding of all livestock. -Must be available for feeding duties when the rodeo team is out of town for NIRA competitions -Maintenance of livestock watering equipment in good working order and ensure that all livestock are provided with water at all times -Other duties as assigned.
