Job description

At Island Health, people are at the center of everything we do. As a part of the Orcas Island Clinic team, you'll play a vital role in supporting our mission to care for those who care for others. You'll help create a positive and seamless experience for every team member - ensuring they feel valued, supported, and heard
Location: Orcas Island, WA / Onsite
Schedule: Part-Time (0.6 FTE) / Days
Salary: $24.00/hr - $35.00/hr
In the Patient Appointment Coordinator role, you will play a key role in the department, as you will be responsible for acting as a patient advocate at all times. This position schedules and confirms appointments, verifies patient insurance eligibility, assists patients upon check-in and check-out, prepares documents for clinic appointment, enters patient demographic and insurance data into electronic medical record and offers other administrative office support.
What you will be doing:
  • Warmly and professionally greets and registers patients with a smile.
  • Verifies insurance and demographic data and updates information as needed.
  • Schedules appointments for medical providers.
  • Calls patients with appointment reminders.
  • Work patient electronic worklists.
  • Prepares patient record for appointments, print routing slips, and fills out other documents as needed.
  • Prepares deposits and daily income summaries.
  • Receives cash and insurance payments.
  • Collaborates with the Orcas Patient Liaison to assist patient scheduling and coordination of services.
  • Picks-up, sends, and distributes mail from post office.
  • Initiates and assists with patient release of records.
  • Assists with closing the office.

  • Planning, organization and prioritization skills with demonstrated evidence of critical thinking, problem solving and analytical processing ability.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and has the ability work independently and in a team environment, with strong ethical standards.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to facilitate change while meeting multiple demands and priorities of a challenging position and workload.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with staff at all levels of the organization with a focus on forming partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve an optimal patient care experience and support Island Hospital's strategic goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with clinicians, leaders, and other stakeholders.

Your Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required, advanced education preferred.
  • Previous experience in a physician clinic setting strongly preferred.
