Position Overview:
The Medication Adherence Liaison under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensures patients receive the correct medication and packages and labels prescriptions. He/She complies with the standards, ethics, laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including the MS Board of Pharmacy and all accrediting organizations as applicable. Critical to this position is a person who is able to establish strong and credible relationships with patients, clinicians and pharmacy staff. Applicants should be results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high patient quality and service. A natural forward-planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, well-presented, professional and comfortable in dealing with others both in-person and on the phone. Applicant must be reliable, tolerant, and determined; an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Most importantly, person must be able to work as a member of a close-knit team.

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.

License:
Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician by the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.

Certifications:
Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technicians Certification Board (PTCB) OR the
National Healthcare Association (NHA) preferred; certification must be maintained as specified or
required by the examining authority.

Experience:
3-5 years' experience. Preferred 5-8 years as a Pharmacy Technician.

Retail Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacy Director

None


Physical Demands:
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue.
Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in person and on the telephone. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, with or without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to work for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work flexible hours.

Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must work with the realization that errors may have serious consequences to patient care.

Special Demands:
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Outlook and Word. Must be able to understand basic pharmaceutical and medical technology. Must have knowledge of sterile procedures and techniques. Must be knowledgeable of medical abbreviations, medication strengths, IV solutions, generic and brand name medications, and basic pharmacy operations.
