To thrive as a Live In Lighthouse Keeper, candidates should possess mechanical aptitude, strong observational skills, and basic first aid knowledge, often supported by experience in facility maintenance or maritime operations. Familiarity with navigational aids, weather monitoring instruments, and emergency communication systems is typically required. Exceptional self-reliance, problem-solving, and effective written communication are valuable soft skills in this solitary position. These abilities ensure the lighthouse operates reliably, safety standards are upheld, and vital information is properly relayed even in remote and potentially adverse conditions.
A Live In Lighthouse Keeper is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the lighthouse’s lights and navigational aids, ensuring all systems function correctly and performing routine maintenance on equipment and the facility. Daily tasks may include recording weather conditions, communicating with nearby vessels or coastguards, and conducting safety checks and minor repairs. In addition, keepers often manage logbooks and may be involved in groundskeeping or minor administrative duties. Due to the remote nature of the position, self-organization and proactive problem-solving are essential to handle unexpected issues efficiently.
A Live In Lighthouse Keeper is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the operation of a lighthouse while residing on-site. Duties may include ensuring the light functions properly, performing general maintenance, monitoring weather conditions, and responding to emergencies. The role often requires self-sufficiency, as many lighthouses are in remote locations. Some positions are volunteer-based, while others offer a stipend or salary.

Minimum Qualifications

* No current restrictions prohibiting frequent lifting of up 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
* No more than one moving violation in the last 12 months or no more than 2 moving violations in the last 36 months

To be considered for this position, you must have completed six (6) months in your present position. Team Members with less than six (6) months may be considered for promotion or transfer based on the needs of the company.
