About APEX International Education Partners
Established in 2011, APEX International Education Partners helps U.S. secondary schools recruit and support international students, promoting diversity and cultural awareness. We provide international students with the support needed to thrive academically, socially, and culturally while studying in the U.S.
Our portfolio includes private day schools across the U.S., a dormitory in Connecticut, and host families who ensure the well-being and success of students. We are committed to guiding students through both their academic and social experiences, ensuring a seamless integration into American culture.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Part-Time Resident Assistant (RA) to help supervise international middle and high school students living in a small residence hall on the scenic waterfront campus of Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut. The residence hall is part of the college campus but offers a quiet, semi-private setting with beautiful views of Long Island Sound and easy access to a private beach across the street.
This is a 10-month live-in position that includes a mix of evening and weekend responsibilities. Students arrive in mid-August and depart in mid-June.
For the 2026-2027 school year, the residence hall will begin with 10 students, with the capacity to grow to up to 25 students. These students attend nearby private schools. The RA will assist the Full-Time House Parent by providing evening and overnight supervision several nights each week.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for international students during evening and overnight hours
  • Conduct nightly room check-ins to ensure students are accounted for and following residence guidelines
  • Be physically present in the residence hall from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM on assigned duty nights
  • Monitor student conduct and provide basic support as needed
  • Respond to minor issues or escalate emergencies to the House Parent or emergency services
  • Help foster a respectful, community-oriented atmosphere

Work Schedule
  • On duty 4 nights per week, including a mix of weekday and weekend nights
  • Two weekends per month, the RA is scheduled to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights as part of their 4 weekly shifts
  • Duty hours are from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with the expectation to remain "on-call" on assigned nights.

Qualifications
  • Fluency in English is required; Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred
  • Experience working with youth or in residential settings is a plus
  • Reliable, responsible, and comfortable enforcing rules and boundaries
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Attributes
  • Culturally aware and supportive of international students
  • Friendly, approachable, and calm under pressure
  • Able to maintain professionalism while living onsite
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Compensation, Benefits & Perks
  • Hourly Rate: $18-$20/hour
  • Private, fully furnished apartment within the residence hall:
    • One private bedroom for the RA
    • Shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room with the House Parent
  • All utilities included (electricity, water, internet, heating/cooling)
  • Campus meal plan included
  • Private beach access and serene views of Long Island Sound
  • A unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships and create a lasting impact in an international boarding community
