Hospice CNA / Hospice Aide
Position Summary
The Hospice Aide provides personal care and supportive services to hospice patients in their place of residence under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment while supporting patients and families with compassionate end-of-life care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care according to the Hospice Plan of Care
- Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers, ambulation, and nutrition
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment
- Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition and care provided
- Practice infection control and safety procedures
- Communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients, families, and staff
- Assist with treatments and procedures according to hospice policy
- Support the hospice philosophy and quality of care standards
- Demonstrate effective time management and teamwork
Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred
- Completion of CNA, Hospice Aide, Home Health Aide, or state-approved Nurse Aide Training/Competency Program
- One year of experience preferred in hospice, home health, hospital, nursing home, or long-term care
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clinical information effectively
- Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused
- Successful completion of competency evaluation and skills testing
Requirements
- Current driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Valid auto liability insurance
Working Conditions
- Travel to patient homes required
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and various home environments
- Flexible schedule and local travel required
- Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, transfer patients, and use durable medical equipment safely
