You will be the Additive Manufacturing Engineering Lab Manager for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Additive Manufacturing Engineering Lab which is responsible for advancing additive manufacturing technologies for aerospace applications.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Additive Manufacturing Engineering Lab Manager you will be responsible for leading a high‑performing engineering team that partners across Lockheed Martin to transition emerging AM materials and processes into production‑ready, certifiable platforms.

  • Lead the engineering team to develop technical roadmaps, secure research funding, and certify materials for tooling and flight hardware.

  • Oversee operation, maintenance, safety compliance, and budgeting of two dedicated AM labs at separate facilities.

  • Drive cross‑disciplinary collaboration and communicate progress and issues to senior leadership and customers.

  • Provide direct engineering support to aeronautics programs and external customers.

  • Manage full‑cycle staffing, personnel development, and continuous improvement of the lab workforce.

Further Information About This Opportunity
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineering or other technical bachelor's degree (STEM).
≥8 years of technical experience in metal and polymer additive manufacturing/3D printing technology, preferably in aerospace or defense.
Demonstrated success in developing technology roadmaps and securing funding for R&D projects.
Technical leadership capability within challenging technical, cost, and schedule constraints.
Desired Skills:
Strong knowledge of AM processes and material certification for aerospace applications.
Team leadership experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated collaboration with internal and external customers, DoD labs, and other government agencies on research and development, including CRAD.
Demonstrated collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain management, to ensure successful integration and identify and mitigate potential risks and issues.
Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, proactive communication, and building collaborative relationships.
Experience with development of air vehicle products.
Experience preparing and delivering presentations to internal leadership and external customers.
Experience with strategic technical planning and proposal development.
Knowledge of Earned Value Management.
Planning and management of personnel resources, staff development and capital resources. Including recruitment, selection, training, assignments, performance, merit planning, recognition and disciplinary actions.
Experience supporting classified and sensitive programs.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
