We are looking for a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to support Planet Networkโ€™s expanding operations. You will be responsible for shingle and mass fusion fiber splicing; preparation, installation, testing and repair of fiber optic cable.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Perform cable installation, construction, maintenance, and repair works
  • Possess knowledge in all types of splicing activity, fiber and safety test equipment and use of all types of fiber construction equipment
  • Locate and repair faults to maintain existing network without causing signal failure interruptions.
  • Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the fiber network
  • Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs, and routers
  • Review site surveys, conditions discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for fiber installation feasibility
  • Understand construction prints and splice schematics
  • Read and interpret existing fiber records, on maps or in the field
  • Install and dress fiber optic cabling within splice enclosures and various fiber termination panels (indoor and outdoor)

Who You Are:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Passion for accuracy
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone
  • Experienced with fiber cable construction, splicing and repair; 3 years preferred
  • Proficient with hand tools, including cable jacket and buffer tube strippers, crimpers and diagnostic equipment is essential
