What is a live in domestic worker?

Live-in domestic workers are individuals who reside in their employer's home and provide a range of household services such as cleaning, cooking, childcare, elder care, and other domestic tasks. Their living arrangements are typically part of their compensation, which may also include a salary, meals, and other benefits. Live-in domestic workers often have clear agreements regarding their duties, work hours, and privacy, and they are protected by specific labor laws in many countries. These arrangements can vary significantly depending on the location and employer. It's important for both workers and employers to understand their rights and responsibilities for a fair and safe working environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in domestic worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Domestic Worker, you need strong housekeeping skills, reliability, and experience or training in household management. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, basic home maintenance tools, and sometimes first aid certification are typically required. These skills are important to ensure a safe, well-maintained home environment and to build positive, respectful relationships with household members.

What challenges should I expect as a live in domestic worker and how can I maintain a healthy work-life balance?
