About the Role & Team

At Disney, storytelling is at the heart of everything we do. From beloved classics to today's most iconic franchises, Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) creates stories that inspire imagination, spark curiosity, and connect with readers around the world.

We are seeking an Associate Editor to join the Disney Press editorial team. In this role, you will help develop and produce engaging print and digital publishing content across Disney's portfolio of world-renowned brands and franchises. You will collaborate with editors, writers, designers, licensors, and cross-functional partners to bring high-quality stories and products to life for readers of all ages.

The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented editorial professional with a passion for storytelling, strong project management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced creative environment.

You will report to the Director of Editorial

What You Will Do

  • Support the editorial development and production of global print and digital publishing projects.
  • Manage assigned titles through all phases of the publishing lifecycle, from concept development through final file delivery.
  • Review manuscripts and layouts to ensure editorial excellence, accuracy, and consistency with franchise and brand standards.
  • Coordinate approvals and feedback with internal stakeholders, licensors, authors, freelancers, and external publishing partners.
  • Maintain project schedules, track milestones, and ensure deliverables are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with creative, production, franchise, marketing, and legal teams to bring publishing programs to market.
  • Contribute ideas that help strengthen content, improve workflows, and enhance the reader experience.
  • Champion Disney's commitment to quality storytelling across all formats and audiences.

What You Bring

  • A passion for books, storytelling, and the Disney portfolio of brands.
  • Strong editorial skills, including copyediting, proofreading, and manuscript evaluation.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams and disciplines.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of editorial, publishing, media, or related content-development experience.
  • Experience managing projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in children's publishing, licensed publishing, or entertainment content.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing formats and workflows.
  • Knowledge of Disney and related franchises.
  • Experience working with freelance contributors and external partners.

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $51,500 to $68,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
