Prep Cook - Big Chill Island House
Job Description
Summary of Position: If you're the kind of person who enjoys setting the stage for culinary excellence behind the scenes, this is your time to shine. Big Chill Island House is seeking detail-oriented Prep Cooks to help lay the foundation for our delicious waterfront fare. You'll work in a supportive environment where precision, freshness, and consistency are key to helping the team succeed. Help fuel the line and make sure every service starts strong. Must Enjoy the Ride!
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prep ingredients for daily service, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and preparing sauces, dressings, and batters.
  • Follow established recipes and preparation procedures
  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate all prepped food to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
  • Ensure all prep areas are clean, sanitized, and organized.
  • Support the line by ensuring all necessary items are stocked and ready for service.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, appearance, and consistency.
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Occasionally assist with basic cooking tasks during slower shifts or as directed by the kitchen manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Manager On Duty
  • Live the brand and be a brand ambassador; make decisions in the best interest of the business at all times

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of full-service restaurant kitchen experience desired
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
  • Must be able to stand, reach, bend, squat, and lift during shift
  • Must possess a friendly, hardworking demeanor with a passion for hospitality and providing top-notch guest service
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; must possess ability to be organized in a changing environment
