Job description

About the Role
Narrative seeks a Director-level senior analyst to join our Competitive Intelligence Division, leading and advancing the firm's landscape monitoring (i.e., media, policy, political, and market developments) and rapid-response capabilities across our client roster. This role owns the standards, operating model, and analytical quality of monitoring products firmwide, ensuring consistency, rigor, and reliability in both day-to-day and high-stakes environments.
The Director serves as a senior analytical partner to Client Services teams, helping identify priority signals, interpret fast-moving developments, and translate complex information into clear, actionable counsel for clients. They play a central role during "war room" situations, leading real-time monitoring and analysis when speed, judgment, and precision matter most.
In addition, the Director is responsible for stewarding and evolving Narrative's competitive intelligence technology stack-maximizing the value of existing tools while identifying opportunities to improve insight quality, speed, and operational efficiency. This role works cross-functionally with Creative, Insights, and Business Development teams to ensure monitoring outputs meaningfully inform storytelling, strategy, and growth.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Firmwide Monitoring Standards & Quality
Set and uphold firmwide standards for competitive intelligence research, landscape monitoring, and analytical outputs, ensuring consistent quality, rigor, and reliability across all client accounts.
  • Rapid-Response & War Room Leadership
Own the activation, leadership, and output quality of rapid-response and "war room" monitoring during high-stakes or fast-moving situations, delivering timely, insight-driven analysis for clients.
  • Senior Analytical Partnership to Account Teams
Serve as a senior analytical partner to Client Services teams by tailoring monitoring approaches to client objectives, identifying priority signals, and translating developments into actionable counsel.
  • Cross-Divisional Enablement
Enable Creative, Insights, and Business Development teams by integrating monitoring outputs into storytelling, analytical frameworks, and proposals when elevated intelligence or context is required.
  • Technology & Platform Stewardship
Own the effective use and evolution of the competitive intelligence technology stack, maximizing value from existing platforms while identifying opportunities to improve insight quality, speed, and operational efficiency.

About the Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate is a senior competitive intelligence professional with 4+ years of experience leading media and landscape monitoring in complex, fast-moving environments.
  • They bring strong analytical judgment, the ability to separate signal from noise, and the ability to translate real-time developments into clear, actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
  • They are a collaborative partner who works effectively with client services, paid media, and insights teams, elevating rigor while respecting account ownership.
  • They have expert proficiency with media monitoring and intelligence platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Meltwater, BGOV) and an interest in advancing tools, workflows, and AI-enabled approaches.
  • They thrive under pressure, adapt quickly during high-stakes moments, and are motivated to mentor junior analysts and uphold firmwide standards.
