Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Job Description

CNA Responsibilities:

  • Provide great patient care.

  • Answer patient calls and determine how best to assist them.

  • Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities Toileting, Walking,?

Standing, Exercising, Eating/Diet, Medication Assistance, Vital Signs, Basic First Aid and CPR, Hygiene: Bathing, Grooming, Shaving, Dental Care, Dressing?

  • Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities.

  • Following the client's service plan & documenting any changes in the client’s condition

  • Ensure patients receive an appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food?

allergies, and preferences.

  • Measure and record food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting?

changes to medical or nursing staff.

  • Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as?

requested by staff.

  • Ambulation and transfer, including positioning;Turn and reposition bedridden patients

  • Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine

  • Remind patients to take medications and nutritional supplements

  • Note/Document observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses

  • Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedures

  • Home management, home safety and sanitation; Infection control in the home

CNA Requirements:

2+ years’ work experience

Basic Health and Tuberculosis Screening

Participate in Quality Improvement Program

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification

Current CPR (American Heart Association)

Ability to think and work independently and with direction and communicate with staff?

members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

High School graduate or equivalent.

Valid Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
