WKBT, News 8, in La Crosse – Eau Claire, Wisconsin (DMA 129) is looking for a dynamic Chief Meteorologist to lead the First Warn Weather Team and take our coverage to the next level. The ideal candidate is an experienced meteorologist who can deliver the essential weather message, track severe, disruptive, and inconvenient weather and deliver a forecast that helps viewers plan their day across platforms. We're looking for a leader who is organized, driven, and can think beyond the green screen to incorporate viewer video, live cameras, and news resources into a cohesive market‐leading product while developing emerging staff members. What you'll do Produce and present daily weather forecasts for television and digital audiences Issue warnings and direct severe weather coverage across platforms Handle severe weather coverage calmly and effectively Lead morning and weekend meteorologists to ensure consistency across dayparts Attend daily newsroom editorial meetings to ensure weather message remains on brand Participate in promotional activities including public appearances Engage with viewers in the community and across social platforms Be passionate about and involved in the community Qualifications / Requirements 3 to 5 years' experience as a TV meteorologist Degree in meteorology is required Demonstrated proficiency with WSI Max technology Smooth and effective delivery of content for live broadcast Proven command of social media platforms and best practices Ability to work adjusted schedules, including weekends and overnights as needed Demonstrated skill as a leader, coach, and mentor Morgan Murphy Media is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
