Job description

Summary Description: Takes live birds from conveyors and hangs them in shackles. Lift live poultry from the supply conveyer and hang the birds by their feet from a shackle conveyor. Rotate through all required positions.Essential Job Functions/Duties: 1.

Work at a pace necessary to keep the production line full at all times.2. Lift live / irreversibly stunned poultry from the supply conveyor and hang live birds on a moving shackle line.3. Meet birds per minute ratio for premium pay.4.

Rotate to Boomer position if/when needed: Understand how to undo ratchet, loosen strap, lift hook off cage, and place hook on loop of trailer. 5. As Boomer, stay two full cages away from the driver and stay where drivers can see.

Boomers shall not boom at any time a trailer is being loaded or unloaded. Once clear, pick up hook and place it on the empty cage. 6.

Rotate to Dumper if/when needed: Learn and operate control panel for Zone 3 of CAS system. 7. As Dumper check for un-dumped birds in the cage and ensure cage dump safety features are working properly.

8. Rotate to Back Up Kill if/when needed: Follow all knife safety requirements. Ensure all birds are slit and killed properly.

If a bird is not cut or not cut correctly, grab the head and pull it downward to expose the neck fully. Cut the throat just above the beak; deeply so that the bird bleeds immediately. 9.

In Back Up Kill position, ensure that no live birds enter the scalders. 10. Understand and follow all Animal Welfare requirements.

11. Physically inspect products for both natural occurring and processing defects.12. Comply with written plant policies and procedures.13.

Identify and report any suspicious or abnormal situations to their immediate supervisor or plant management official such as product tampering, unauthorized employees in restricted area, and equipment malfunction that may put product wholesomeness at stake.14. Must exhibit the Peco-Pocahontas values: Safety, Teamwork, Mutual Respect, Accountability, and Honesty.15. Must be dependable.

*No more than 3.16. Performance must stay at proficient level in order to keep premium.17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Cross train on Class I positions and rotate. Physical/Mental Requirements: 1. Must be able to stand 100% of the work day.2.

Gripping and repetitive use of hands. 3. Must be able to use a knife safely.4.

Must be able to operate controls. 5. Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb steps.6.

Must be comfortable working in organic conditions.
