DMV Insulation Association is accepting applications for EXPERIENCED Mechanical Insulators, Mechanical Foremen, and UNSKILLED Apprentices for commercial insulation work in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area with LiUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America).   We have positions open for both Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects and private work

Positions for Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects:

  • Career commercial insulation mechanic jobs
  • Journeymen (JM) level Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects (Federal or State funded) within a 40-mile radius of D.C. and Baltimore
  • Entry-level apprenticeship positions with full benefits
Pay & Benefits for Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects:
  • Journeymen - Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects: $48/hour after fringes and after dues — over $1,900/week before taxes (based on 40 hours)
  • Private Work Insulators - Positions available that do not meet the requirements for Davis-Bacon or Prevailing Wage work - negotiable
  • Foremen- Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects: $1 to $5/hour above prevailing wage
  • Apprentices: $19/hour after dues and fringes — full medical, dental, and vision benefits included
  • Dues: 3.5% of gross pay in dues to LiUNA Local 11
Additional Benefits (All Insulators):
  • $7.29/hour for all fringe benefits 
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage (Single or Family):
    • Medical PPO plan with $300 deductible (single) / $600 deductible (family)
      • 80% coinsurance after deductible, 100% coverage after reaching $2,000 (single) / $4,600 (family) annual out-of-pocket maximum (includes deductible; excludes non-covered charges and balance billing)
      • Covers hospital, surgical, physician visits, emergency care, and prescription drugs
      • Health eligibility after 130 work hours in the first month; coverage starts 2 months later
      • Note: ACA health care costs MAY rise by 75%+ in 2026 — this plan helps offset that risk
    • Dental – $1,000 per person/year for preventive, basic, and major services
    • Vision – Exams, lenses, and frames covered, subject to frequency limits
  • $500 annual savings plan contribution
  • 9 paid holidays
  • 7 paid time off (PTO) days (accrued)
  • Remaining fringe paid as taxable wages (included in the rate stated above)
Requirements for Davis-Bacon or prevailing wage scale projects:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mechanical insulator (mechanic/foreman roles)
  • U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
  • No federal prohibitions for working on federal projects (example: Fort Belvoir Fitness determination)
  • Valid driver’s license and insured personal vehicle
  • Willing to join LiUNA
  • Pass drug screening, background check, and pre-employment physical
