Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate with 4–6 years of experience to join a nationally recognized litigation practice representing innovative technology and life sciences companies in high-stakes disputes. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated litigation for clients ranging from emerging startups to Fortune 50 companies.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes, or consumer class actions and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Handle disputes involving:
    • Copyright
    • Trademark
    • Trade secrets
    • Consumer class actions
    • Complex commercial litigation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy.
  • Take and defend depositions and assist with trial preparation.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices on sophisticated, high-profile litigation matters.
  • Develop strong client relationships while providing practical, business-focused legal advice.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active admission (or eligibility for admission by waiver or the next bar examination) in the jurisdiction where the attorney will practice.
  • 4–6 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience handling one or more of the following:
    • Copyright litigation
    • Trademark litigation
    • Trade secret litigation
    • Consumer class actions
    • Complex commercial litigation
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience representing technology or life sciences companies.
  • Experience managing significant portions of complex litigation matters.
  • Strong project management and case management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters while maintaining exceptional client service.
