Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate with 4–6 years of experience to join a sophisticated litigation practice handling intellectual property, consumer class action, and complex commercial disputes.

The ideal candidate will have substantive litigation experience involving one or more of the following areas: copyright, trademark, trade secret, consumer class actions, and complex commercial litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Handle sophisticated intellectual property and complex commercial litigation matters.
  • Represent clients in disputes involving:
    • Copyright
    • Trademark
    • Trade secrets
    • Consumer class actions
    • Complex commercial matters
  • Conduct substantive legal research and develop litigation strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents.
  • Participate in fact and expert discovery.
  • Assist with and take responsibility for significant components of complex litigation matters.
  • Work closely with partners and senior attorneys throughout all phases of litigation.
  • Assist with case preparation for hearings, mediation, and trial.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties.
Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of relevant litigation experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Copyright litigation
    • Trademark litigation
    • Trade secret litigation
    • Consumer class actions
    • Complex commercial litigation
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sophisticated litigation matters.
  • Must be admitted in the jurisdiction of the applicable office or eligible to sit for or waive into the next available bar examination.
