Job description

  • 10 hr Shift: Monday-Thursday 3:00pm-1:00am
  • 12 hr Weekend Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

As a company dedicated to building a better future for people, the Litho Press Operator plays an integral role in the success of our company and our mission.

The Litho Press Operator responsibilities include set-up (make-ready), operation, and operator maintenance of the Meyers sheet-feed lithographic printing presses. Litho Press Operators work with the Production Supervisor to meet Litho Printing work schedules by using the scheduling system, following ticket directions, make-readying press for job specific production, running the job on press, wash-up as necessary in preparation of the next press job. Press Operators must also be capable of providing daily press maintenance as needed to keep the press fully functional and aid Tech Services with on demand mechanical issues.

Some of the duties include:

  • Production
    • Make-ready, operate, wash-up and maintain the Meyers KBA, Heidelberg and other Lithographic printing presses.
    • Work with press feeder assistant to assure proper stock and tools are job ready, run jobs according to schedule.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Matches work to proof. Maintain color control and registration.
  • Process Control
    • Uses available tools to and systems to correct job and tools are prepared and ready for production, but not limited to stock, plates, press, ink and other process materials and supplies as needed.

Some key must-haves:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform repetitive manual tasks. Manual dexterity and excellent eye/hand coordination are required to safely manipulate equipment settings, utilize hand tools, move carts and skids with finished product throughout the plant.
  • Must be able to move freely on foot throughout the plant, stand for sustained periods of time, and perform pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, and lifting functions.
  • Basic computer aptitude with ability to use computers as necessary in the operation of equipment or as a tool for process support and documentation.
  • Level of work activity is usually heavy involving lifting and exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with the aid of lifting equipment, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, and perform basic mathematical calculations dealing with weights and dimensions.
  • High school general education or GED equivalent.
