Job Summary:

The Reach Out and Read Colorado at RRCC is seeking dependable, detail-oriented work-study students to support the Read Me Again program, which provides gently used children's books to families through pediatric clinics and community partners. This role plays an important role in helping prepare and organize books so they can be distributed to children across Colorado. Reach Out and Read Colorado partners with pediatric healthcare providers to improve school readiness and social-emotional skills through trusted literacy guidance and reading together. Through routine well-child visits, children receive new books, and caregivers receive guidance on fostering early language development, helping build a foundation for lifelong learning and success. The Read Me Again program extends this impact by redistributing gently used children's books to families and communities where they are needed most.
This position reports to Aria Faddis (aria@reachoutandreadco.org) as the off-campus supervisor and Karen Tran (karen.tran@rrcc.edu), Manager of Work-Study and Customer Service as the on-campus supervisor. The work schedule for this position is weekdays, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the Reach Out and Read Colorado office located at 1355 S Colorado Blvd Ste 108, Denver, CO 80222. The typical hours for this position will be 2-4 hours per week with occasional evening opportunities for special events.
This is a work-study position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

    Required Qualifications
    For work study employment:
  • Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a federal work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
  • Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.
  • Must be comfortable performing light physical activity, including standing, bending, and shelving books.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the Reach Out and Read office and other community event locations as needed.
    Physical & Cognitive Demands

    Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
    This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
    The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
