Center Store Manager - Food Maxx - 1972 Tully Road, San Jose, CA 95122
The Center Store Manager position at FoodMaxx plans and directs the day-to-day activities of Center Store operations, overseeing the following assigned areas: Grocery, General Merchandise, Frozen, Dairy/Deli, and Liquor. The position's focus is to drive Center Store sales growth, increase profitability, and lead and promote customer service. This role ensures all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability.
The Center Store Manager ensures that our customers' needs are met and exceeded through effective day-to-day management of the operations and merchandising functions for the Center Store Department. This position oversees Center Store product and conditions to optimize sales, profits, and customer satisfaction; and manages in-store product staging and flow from the time the produce is received to customer product selection and all points in the process. This position has direct oversight of all Center Store backroom storage and product staging areas, sales floor steel/shelving conditions and steel product staging, inventory control, schematic maintenance, and price integrity.
The Center Store Manager provides leadership and direction to Center Store team members to promote a culture reflective of the company's mission, values, and commitment to a quality workplace. This position trains and develops team members to enable their success and career advancement, and manages their assigned departments' performance and productivity to optimize store overall performance.
This position oversees Front-End operations and total store staff in the absence of the Store Manager and the Assistant Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Responsible for their departments' overall condition, including visual merchandising and plan implementation
• Analyzes and manages product performance
• Manages sign and price integrity
• Manages schematics and new items
• Accountable for achieving department financials (sales, profit and loss, projections, metrics, and analysis) by identifying, defining, and implementing best store practices and optimization strategies utilizing innovative solutions
• Manages product for sales and profit (orders, order/inventory system usage, pre-orders, promotion/seasonal planning)
• Manages product rotation, spoils, shrink, and markdowns
• Oversees backroom and steel management
• Responsible for Center Store inventory accuracy; prepares and oversees inventory process
• Develops Assistant Center Store Managers (coaching, annual appraisal discussions, supervision reports, annual goals/performance review, quarterly progress reviews, employee surveys, etc.)
• Effectively utilizes resources to improve productivity, flexibility, and efficiencies of labor and quality of shopping experience
• Provides customers with a remarkable shopping experience by demonstrating, training, and holding store team members accountable for excellent customer service
• Directly leads Assistant Center Store Managers and team members with focus on accountability and achieving high-level business performance outcomes for the department
• In charge of store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager
Hiring pay range: $33.74 - 35.43
Education: High School Diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent) required. Knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience a plus
Experience: Minimum one year as an Assistant Center Store Manager or equivalent grocery retail management experience is preferred
Other: Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be forklift certified
Physical: Requires frequent standing and other physical movements and independently lifting up to 40 lbs.
