About the Job
CALNET has a requirement for a Linux Systems Administrator to support the task order to provide professional Information Technology (IT) support for US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) located at Fort Gordon, GA. The program provides software, hardware, storage and network connectivity to the Integrated Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Divisions (IGDS) assigned to each of INSCOM's Military Intelligence Brigades - Theater (MIB-T). INSCOM executes mission command of operational intelligence and security forces; conducts and synchronizes worldwide multi-discipline and all-source intelligence and security operations; delivers linguist support and intelligence-related advanced skills training, acquisition support, logistics, communications, and other specialized capabilities in support of Army, Joint, and Coalition Commands and the U.S. Intelligence Community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Installation, configuration, and management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
  • Supporting Linux deployments leveraging VMware architecture
  • Provide timely resolution of support requests.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with team members and customers to understand, propose, and continuously implement service improvements.
  • Assist with analysis, planning, testing, and implementation of solutions.
  • Responsible for maintaining and sharing knowledge of policies and procedures for hardware, software, and technical services.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system incidents with both short-term workarounds and long-term solutions. Responds to escalated service desk/team requests.
  • Communicate effectively (in oral and written form) with a variety of individuals.
  • Support system upgrades and migrations while maintaining up-time to customer services.
  • Monitor and provide end-to-end O&M for all on-premises hosting environments.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Must Have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with an SCI designator. (TS/SCI)
  • A BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a System Administrator is required.
  • IAW DOD 8570.01-M, DFARS 252.239.7001, and AR 25-2, Contractor employees supporting IA/IT functions must be baseline certified to at least IAT Level 2 - Security+
  • Linux+ or RHCSA (Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator) Certification
  • 5 years' Linux administration experience supporting enterprise environments
  • Solid understanding of the Linux OS (RHEL 7+/CentOS 7+/Ubuntu 18.04+) and its components (kernel, system, libraries, job scheduling, and package management)
  • Intermediate BASH or Python scripting skills, including understanding, modifying, and creating scripts
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS
  • Solid understanding of fundamental network protocols such as routing, TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SSL/TLS, and HTTP
  • Extensive understanding of Intel Servers (Cisco UCS, HP, or Dell) including remote access, troubleshooting, booting, firmware, and configuration
  • Understanding of security best practices such as CIS, SELinux, Firewalls, PAM, etc.
  • Extensive experience with OS patching and patching tools (RPM, YUM, repos)
  • Hands-on experience with management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, etc.
  • Experience with PXE booting Linux-based OS installs (ex. kickstart, Cobbler, FAI, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with OS patching and patching tools (RPM, YUM, repos)
  • Ability and willingness to work after-hours on occasion (nights, evenings, weekends, on-call rotation, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and colleagues.
  • Solid understanding of LVM, filesystem types, and partitioning
  • Extensive understanding of Intel Servers (Cisco UCS, HP, or Dell) including remote access, troubleshooting, booting, firmware, and configuration
  • Understanding of security best practices such as CIS, SELinux, Firewalls, PAM, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, etc.
  • Experience with PXE booting Linux-based OS installs (ex. kickstart, Cobbler, FAI, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to work after-hours on occasion (nights, evenings, weekends, on-call rotation, etc.)
  • Understanding of version controls systems (Git, BitBucket, etc.)
  • Professional experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, PCF/Tanzu, etc.
  • Experience with VMware vCenter and general understanding of virtualization
  • Experience with modern tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Hands on experience with SAN storage (Fibre Channel, Multipath, PowerPath, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLServer
