Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Suwanee, GA that is seeking a VMware/Linux Administrator.
Summary:
Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Individual Contributor, this role provides high-level technical expertise across the entire operational lifecycle of the enterprise VMware and Linux ecosystems. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and resilience of these environments through proactive monitoring, complex troubleshooting, and change planning. Additionally, this position acts as an Enterprise Storage administrator, overseeing the organization's Network Attached Storage (NAS) infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the VMware infrastructure, including VM provisioning
* Provide technical expertise and expert guidance for Linux
* Perform timely patches, tuning, and upgrades to VMware and Linux including firmware upgrades at the system and device levels
* Monitor system performance to proactively resolve issues before they become critical
* Assist other technical teams as needed to maintain operational integrity
* Provide subject matter expertise, mentoring, and overall system health information to leadership, customers, and coworkers
* Manage Incident tickets and Service Requests in the relevant queues
* Provide performance reports, capacity usage reports, issue resolution summaries, detailed documentation of processes and procedures, or troubleshooting guides as requested
* Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3 to 5 years of VMware vSphere with vSAN operations experience
* 3 to 5 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience
* 3 to 5 years of hands-on enterprise storage management experience
* Analytical Rigor & Initiative: Demonstrates advanced logical reasoning and a meticulous approach to complex problem-solving. Operates with high autonomy, proactively identifying and executing initiatives to optimize the technical environment
* Collaborative Communication: Facilitates effective cross-functional collaboration, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders while maintaining detailed technical documentation
* Systems Observability: Proficient in leveraging observability toolsets to transform raw monitoring metrics and security requirements into actionable operational strategies
* Virtualization & Infrastructure: Comprehensive expertise in VMware ecosystems, including hardware troubleshooting, advanced networking/VLAN configurations, and vSAN hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). Adept at managing the full VM lifecycle, including vSphere cluster deployment and guest migrations from platforms like Hyper-V
* Linux Administration: Demonstrated mastery of Linux environments, including CLI-based configuration, patch management, and advanced troubleshooting
* Storage Operations: Expert in managing enterprise-scale storage lifecycles, including DR planning and high-availability protection strategies. Skilled in implementing storage-level security, focusing on encryption-at-rest/motion, granular access controls, and operational efficiency
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
