Senior Dynatrace Engineer
Atlanta, GA - Hybrid (Business Meetings)
Contract Duration: 04/06/2026 - 06/30/2026 (Potential for Extension)
Interview Type: Web Cam or In-Person
This position is based in Atlanta, GA, and the consultant has to travel onsite on the first day for onboarding. This includes picking up computing equipment and an ID/Security badge. Client will NOT cover travel expenses. Do you accept this requirement?
Job Summary
  • Our client is seeking a Senior Dynatrace Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise monitoring and observability solutions. This role will focus on onboarding applications into Dynatrace, enhancing system visibility, analyzing performance, and supporting incident response activities.
  • Under limited supervision, this position coordinates and configures monitoring across infrastructure, cloud platforms, and applications. The engineer will also contribute to database and system reliability through proactive monitoring.
  • While the role is intended for long-term engagement, continuation is dependent on annual budget renewals. The initial contract runs through the end of the fiscal year, with anticipated renewal on July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities
1. Monitoring & Observability
  • Configure, maintain, update, and optimize Dynatrace monitoring solutions.
  • Provide full end-to-end visibility across applications, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, health checks, and key metrics.
  • Create alert thresholds to reduce false positives and improve reliability.
  • Track service performance trends and system availability.

2. Infrastructure Systems Monitoring
  • Monitor Windows/Linux servers, VMware environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to forecast capacity requirements.
  • Identify and resolve potential system issues proactively.

3. Application Monitoring
  • Monitor application performance, transaction flows, and dependencies via Dynatrace.
  • Implement and support Real User Monitoring (RUM) and synthetic monitoring.
  • Work directly with application teams to ensure complete coverage.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and system-level performance optimization.

4. Incident Response Support
  • Participate in performance-related incident investigations.
  • Provide monitoring insights during outages and problem resolution.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and address monitoring gaps.
  • Document findings and assist in post-incident improvement efforts.

5. Continuous Improvement
  • Enhance monitoring standards, documentation, and governance.
  • Recommend alert tuning, automation, and configuration improvements.
  • Integrate monitoring tools with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Support initiatives to strengthen overall observability practices.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.

Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers and VMware.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash) - strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and general networking.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes or container monitoring.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and working in regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with enterprise log analysis and ITSM tools (Jira, ServiceNow).
