Job description

Observability Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: Long Term

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and research for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservices architectures.  This is for the INET Program. 

Monitoring & Observability:
Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
Monitor service performance and availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
Infrastructure Systems Monitoring:
Monitor Windows/Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
Application Monitoring:
Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.
Incident Support:
Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Identify and close monitoring gaps.
Continuous Improvement:
Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor''s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
Experience with scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred).
Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).
Soft Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration across teams.
Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
