Job description

Job Title: RedHat Linux System Administrator

Location(s): Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Hours: Regular Full-Time

Salary Range: $120k/yr - $185k/yr

Clearance Requirements

This position requires a current and active TS/SCI with Poly at the time of application.

What you will be doing:

The SAL will perform a variety of functions, depending on the level required. The specific demonstrated skills, as more fully set forth at each level may include: providing support for the implementation and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based Information Technology (IT) systems or Red Hat Derivative systems, installing and configuring Linux-based operating systems and their services, conducting day-to-day operations, such as account management, system health and status checks, and internal technical and security log review, identifying capacity, performance, and reliability issues and escalating them for resolution, applying patches and configuration changes according to provided direction, supporting the dispatching of hardware technicians, and performing hardware maintenance, managing the system as part of an integrated solution, assisting related administrators in troubleshooting and correcting network and storage subsystem issues, automating tasks and using tools in order to provide concurrent management of multiple systems, and communicating status to agency management and internal customers

  • Configure Linux-based operating systems and their services in order to maximize system performance and reliability.
  • Configure Linux-based operating systems and their services according to system requirements.
  • Identify and correct most deficiencies and errors related to capacity, performance, and reliability.
  • Identify patches and configuration changes according to system requirements.
  • Manage the system as part of an integrated solution, assisting related administrators in troubleshooting and correcting network and storage subsystem issues.
  • Provide support for the implementation and operation of Red Hat Enterprise
  • Linux-based Information Technology (IT) systems.
  • Install and configure Linux-based operating systems and their services according to provided specifications.

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • One - Nine years demonstrated IT experience in any related field (Depending upon position Level).
  • One - Five years demonstrated Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration experience within the last eight (8) years (Depending upon position Level).

Education:

  • At a minimum, a high school diploma (or GED).

Certifications:

  • An active Tier II certification related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary would be required.
