Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Linux System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Sr. Linux System Administrator, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Linux Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.
AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight tests. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
BNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for Sr. Linux System Administrator to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.
Job Duties:
  • Serve as primary System Administrator for Linux based servers, workstations, and services with direct responsibility for:
    • Professionally handling direct user interaction for the resolution of potentially complex issues with system and/or network functionality, compatibility, and performance.
    • Evaluating hardware and software solutions, summarizing findings and recommendations to leadership.
    • Build, deploy and administrate Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) workstation and server infrastructure, ensuring functionality meets AEDC mission needs.
    • Configuration, deployment, and management of virtualization technology frameworks such as VMware and OpenShift.
    • Building and maintaining approved secure baselines for server and client operating system images.
    • System security configuration, hardening, patching, and monitoring, including implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other DoD security policies.
  • Provide secondary administration support for Linux based systems and other peripheral IT equipment as assigned to include:
    • Server, workstation and storage system operations, upgrades and enhancements to meet current and future end-user and facility requirements.
    • Commercial and government owned software installation, maintenance, and user support.
    • System backup hardware, applications and processes.
    • Support, maintenance, repair, and installation of workstations and servers, peripheral equipment, and software applications.
  • Provide secondary network administration support as assigned to include:
    • Configuring and hardening network devices prior to deployment.
    • Coordinating with IT Technicians for installation and corrective actions to network devices and cabling.
  • Implement and manage vulnerability patches to ensure system security.
  • Work with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure compliance with Cybersecurity regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure Cybersecurity requirements are consistently documented, maintained, evaluated and compliant for Government IT system networks including components of systems.
  • Provide end user troubleshooting support for Government IT system networks through the ticket support system.
  • Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Take an active role in research of new Information Systems technologies and capabilities.
  • Periodically evaluate process and program effectiveness and take action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Provide support to AEDC Customer and other contractors.
  • Availability outside of working hours to remediate critical issues with IT Infrastructure as required.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT-related field
  • Grade 08: 5 years of progressively relevant experience; in lieu of Bachelor's degree 8 years of IT- related experience.
  • Grade 09: 8 years of progressively relevant experience; in lieu of Bachelor's degree 12 years of IT- related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting the following: Unix\Linux\Windows workstation and server OS environments, hardware, software, mass storage, HPC, patching, ACAS, VLAN's, VMWare, OpenShift, NetApp ONTAP, Active Directory, Veeam, and SolarWinds NPM.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Configuration and Application of security policies and templates for system hardening.
  • Configuration, Monitoring, and Tuning of server applications and performance.
  • Storage Management and Services, including RAID, LVM, NFS.
  • Experience with NISPOM and/or DoD/RMF
  • Experience with network services such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NIS, Apache, Tomcat.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining personnel and customer relationships.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
