Job Summary
ย In your role as a Network Administrator, you will join our Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS) team to maintain and improve network equipment in a mixed Linux/Windows-based environment. RMLS is the FAAโ€™s logging system for recording maintenance work performed on facilities in the National Airspace System (NAS). You will assist senior network engineers responsible for maintaining and improving all networking equipment in a mixed Linux and Windows based environment.
Responsibilitiesย 
  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for RMLS:
    • Work with senior network engineers and/or administrators in maintaining, configuring and improving network hardware (servers, routers and switches) in a mixed Linux and Windows based environment.
    • Manage and support Firewall, Load balancer configuration.
    • Upgrading and repairing computer networks .Deploying and updating software.
    • Managing servers and their operating systems.
    • Implementing security measures.
    • Develop/execute test processes and procedures.
    • Managing cloud and physical network storage.
    • Create and update network related documentation.
    • Troubleshooting network issues.
    • Support other team members in resolving complex issues within the system.
    • Interface with outside vendors.
    • Attend and may lead meetings, design reviews, work groups and briefings.Report issues, problems and recommended solutions.
    • Performs other related duties in line with tasks assignments.
    • RMLS Field Support 24x7 as needed.ย 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or a Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering technology or in another technical field, such as Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics).
  • Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable.
  • Six (6) to Nine (9) years of related work experience. ย 
Technical Proficienciesย 
  • Knowledge/experience for Windows/Linux in:
    • Network infrastructure.
  • Implementation, administration, and troubleshooting network devices.
  • Application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Digital security.ย 
  • Checkpoint firewalls,
  • F5 load balancers/proxy servers.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently, as well as a team, in an agile environment.ย 
    • Research and problem solve.
    • Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.
This position requires work to be performed at the William J Hughes Technical Center and may require travel to airport locations around the USA when scheduling dictates or at management discretion (~10%). Occasional nights or weekend may be required.ย
