AIX/Linux TechOps Engineer

What would you do as our AIX/Linux TechOps Engineer?

The IT Infrastructure TechOps Engineer leads the design and deployment of Unix-based technologies, primarily supporting Linux (SUSE, RedHat) servers on VMware, VxRail, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), plus AIX servers on IBM P8/P10. Responsibilities include maintaining all infrastructure components-physical hosts, SAN, virtualization, security, network operations, and databases-in a 24x7x365 environment. The engineer collaborates with developers, DBAs, system administrators, managers, and customers to resolve technical issues. Experience with SAP HANA infrastructure is highly preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day to day overview for Datacenters within the Americas Division, including VMWare Hosts, Virtual Machines, SAN, FC Connectivity, and Infrastructure hardware.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, customize and maintain AIX/Linux systems while ensuring overall system performance and availability.
  • Monitor AIX/Linux systems, analyzing problems and performing research and maintenance to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Test and document systems prior to deployment.
  • Perform regular revalidation of system settings to ensure compliance with policies and needs.
  • Use scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Be available to respond to the needs of a 24x7x365 environment (including on call for emergencies), after-hours and weekends when required.
  • Create, modify, and delete account information. Evaluate access rights and permissions.
  • Document system requirements, configurations, procedures, changes, incidents, and problem resolutions.
  • Mitigate security breaches in progress.
  • Configure and maintain HMC to manage P-series environments.
  • Configured, monitor, and maintain IBM VM Recovery Manager for AIX VM replication for disaster recovery.
  • Backup and restore systems using NIM, mksysb, and Rubrik Backup solution.
  • Work with vendors for all aspects of system maintenance including annual maintenance renewals, hardware, and software support.
  • Adhere to all change control policies.
  • Perform any additional duties as defined by IT leadership.
  • Work alongside colleagues to improve service delivery.

Education and Experience Profile

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Industry certification(s) such as VMware, Linux, AIX, etc. are a plus!
  • Additional certifications may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Specific knowledge of IBM P-Series Servers and AIX operating systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and technologies in a Global Organization.
  • Prior experience with ServiceNow is a plus.

  • Dell Unity SAN experience (LUNs, NPIV)
  • NetApp (specifically used for a Flexclone process)
  • Scripting (ksh, perl, etc.) (Windows PowerShell experience a plus).
  • Monitoring and managing servers with a 24/7/365 level uptime.
  • Hardware and software inventory management.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Project experience, participation, and ownership within complex systems.
  • Problem resolution and attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting database environments, preferably HANA.

Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  This is an in-person position at our Lake Forest, CA office.

Pay Range: $103,000 - $162,253.

This "base salary range" is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
