Job description

Job Description

Position title: Site Engineer

Location: San Jose, California

Our client is a small, fast-growth, pre-IPO technology company that offers award winning software through a cloud model. The company is growing at a 30%+ rate and is the fastest growing leader in their space with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and one that values the individuality, ingenuity and originality each employee contributes. The company is in high growth mode and offers a competitive compensation and equity. We are currently seeking a talented engineer candidate with strong and diversified skills in the area of technical operations for this exciting opportunity:

Position Description:

The Site Engineer will help maintain the company's mission critical production infrastructure to high levels of availability, security, scalability, performance, and efficiency to our customers.

Position Responsibilities:

Required skills and experience:

Additional information for qualification of candidates (do not post):

They need to have application systems administration experience, specifically on Linux.

All the big companies are a hit or miss. If they are not working on app sys admin, then not a fit (i.e. infrastructure, storage, data center, networking, virtualization, etc.). Big companies will have folks just focused on those areas which are not relevant for us.

Each candidate will be different based on their current experience at a big company and their previous background so it's hard to say. If they have not support customer interfacing products, then they are not a good fit (i.e. if they were not part of the team that ensured Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Amazon (any online product or service) ever went down from an application perspective, then they aren't a good fit).

Does not need to come from a software company, a plus if they do, but not required. They just need to have worked and support customer production environments. So candidates from Amazon, eBay, PayPal, StubHub, (basically any online website that is for customers - either in B2B or B2C).

Not interested in candidates that have only supported internal IT infrastructure, internal lab environments, or anything in that nature. They may have all the keywords but the experience and skills working in those environments compared to environments where you are supporting live customer production environments are very different.

Thanks,

Mohan Behara
