Product Line Manager 3 (Riflescopes)

Starting Base Salary Range of $120,000 to $150,000 (DOE)

What You'll Be Doing as a Product Line Manager 3:

  • Assesses industry, product and brand trends, risks and opportunities. Evaluates and prioritizes product and consumer needs and requirements. Monitors key competitor activities.
  • Leads the product planning process, including strategic end-of-life considerations. Develops/maintains a 3-5 year brand Product Roadmap and identifies short term "opportunity" products/promotions.
  • Leads the development of all promotional campaigns for assigned product category. Reviews and advises on all special make-ups, discounts, rebates, sponsorships, etc. impacting brand persona, sales or contribution margin related to assigned product category.
  • Defines specific product requirements/specifications and collaborates with the Product Development, Sales, Marketing and Consumer Services departments to ensure requirements are met.
  • Develops the forecast and inventory position for the product line. Develops specific sales/profitability and other performance targets and strategies; maintains a tracking scorecard.
  • Provides management with data, analysis, and recommendations to support new product and other strategic initiatives and the budgeting process.
  • Collaborates with marketing to evaluate effectiveness of enhancements to marketing, advertising and promotional programs for assigned product category to ensure effectiveness, profitability and return on investment.
  • Leads product introduction/launch efforts, including those with key or strategic accounts.
  • Provides recommendations on catalog development, training, and trade/consumer shows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience You'll Need as a Product Line Manager 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, advertising or a related field. 10-15+ years progressive experience in the marketing/product line management function of a consumer product company with a global, multi-channel sales environment. Masters preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Formal training/certification in brand, category, or product line management is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the assigned product category. In-depth knowledge of shooting sports, hunting, firearms and associated optics applications.
  • Significant experience with promotional planning including timing, events, training and scheduling.
  • Well-developed strategic planning and analysis skills. Highly quantitative, metrics driven and analytical.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development and execution of marketing, sales and product strategies for a specific product category.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve outcomes that support business objectives.

Work Environment for a Product Line Manager 3:

Work is performed in a normal office environment with exposure to the manufacturing environment. 20% travel - based on season.
