Old Dominion Freight Line is currently recruiting for a Regional Line Haul Planner to join the OD Family Culture. This position will successfully supervise, monitor and modify line haul schedules within the region to ensure efficiency while maintaining quality service. Manage regional dispatch operations within the night time operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Identify the needs for power placement in the regional line haul network and find solutions
  • Maintain movement of drivers regionally for freight balance, monitor promise dates and be proactive in redirecting freight as needed
  • Proactively identify problems and find solutions with freight flow to improve efficiencies in the regional line haul operations
  • Ensure all regional service centers always have driver roster updated
  • Works directly with SVC Line Haul Supervisors, the Regional Line Haul Manager, Central Dispatch and regional service centers
  • Works with the Manager of Service Engineering on schedule planning when freight balance changes due to the gain/loss of business
  • This is an extension of the Central Dispatch department located at the break bulk service centers
  • Ability to work 7 on/7 off or Monday - Friday, 5:00pm to 4:00am or 6:00pm - 5:00am

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of working experience in line haul (over the road) network
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and dispatching software
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of general DOT regulations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Supervisory experience
  • Bi-lingual
