Job description

Senior Safety Manager – Construction

Reports to: Safety Director

Lindamood Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across a variety of heavy civil, demolition, and site development construction projects. In this key leadership role, you will work closely with field operations, superintendents, and project managers to ensure a safe working environment and a strong safety culture across multiple jobsites.

You’ll support the Safety Director in managing company-wide construction safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations, and promoting continuous improvement through field training, proactive hazard management, and real-time safety data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Site Safety Leadership

  • Lead the planning, execution, and enforcement of safety strategies for active construction projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to integrate safety into all phases of work—from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Act as a field mentor and resource for site safety representatives and foremen, reinforcing daily safety best practices.

Field Oversight & Compliance

  • Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections, ensuring crews follow safety protocols and use proper PPE.
  • Monitor site conditions and high-risk activities (excavation, demolition, heavy equipment operation, confined space, etc.) for potential hazards and intervene as needed.
  • Lead incident investigations on-site, including root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of OSHA standards (including 1926 Construction Standards), state safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in preparing for and responding to OSHA inspections, citations, or serious incidents.
  • Help develop and enforce corrective action plans following audits or incidents.

Training & Communication

  • Deliver ongoing safety training and toolbox talks tailored to job-specific hazards and site conditions.
  • Build rapport with field crews and management to encourage open communication and reporting of safety concerns.
  • Generate clear, actionable safety reports including trend analysis, leading indicators, and project safety metrics.

What You Bring

  • Construction-Savvy: Strong understanding of construction operations, logistics, and the unique safety challenges of civil, demolition, or industrial projects.
  • Hands-On Leadership: You’re comfortable on-site, in the field, and in the dirt—working side-by-side with crews to build trust and drive real safety improvements.
  • Incident Management: Proven experience leading safety responses to near-misses, injuries, or emergencies on active construction sites.
  • Problem Solver: You think critically, act decisively, and tailor safety solutions to match each job’s environment and scope.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety management, with experience overseeing multiple job sites.
  • OSHA 500 certification required.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction regulations and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train, mentor, and influence both field crews and senior leadership.
  • Proficient in safety reporting systems, audits, and data analysis for continuous improvement.
