Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Security Inks team. This position supports laboratory operations, quality control testing, product development, and manufacturing support for specialized security inks used in banknotes, government documents, brand protection, tax stamps, and other high-security applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced materials and technologies in a highly regulated environment in Springfield, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and non-routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Perform laboratory testing and data analysis, ensuring adherence to established standards and supporting reliable lab operations.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret test data to ensure compliance with established specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare laboratory samples, drawdowns, and test panels for customer evaluations and internal studies.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to support process validation and troubleshooting.
  • Accurately record test results and maintain laboratory documentation in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Assist in investigations of non-conforming materials and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration records.
  • Support research and development projects through sample preparation, testing, and data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality requirements, laboratory procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and organize retain samples and maintain sample inventory.
  • Promote and adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality policies.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in inks, coatings, or related industries
  • Experience with viscosity testing

  • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry or a related scientific field is preferred but not required

  • Experience with LIMS and data analysis tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and testing methods
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Math proficiency

Work Environment

Work hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. The environment fosters a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork with highly tenured employees. A 5% discretionary bonus is offered yearly.

This is a Permanent position based out of Springfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53000.00 - $61000.00/yr.

5% discretionary bonus annually PTO
