Your Responsibilities:
The Technical Services Chemist, based at our headquarters located in Harvey, IL, will provide technical assistance and support in the operation and use of metalworking fluids and lubricants for the Industrial Division of Fuchs Lubricants Co. These essential activities are the cornerstone of our constant efforts in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction one can expect from an industry leader.
Salary:
FUCHS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000, but actual salary will vary depending upon a new hire's experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.
Key responsibilities include:
• Utilization of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), in conjunction with global colleagues.
• Generating and reporting technical data to support troubleshooting analyses & new business opportunities.
• Reviewing and commenting on trend analysis data generated by technicians for Fuchs customer systems.
• Supporting Sales in troubleshooting endeavors, new business opportunities, and quality concerns, including customer site visits when necessary.
• Assist with maintenance of laboratory equipment, interface with vendors on repairs and selection of new equipment, as needed.
• Maintaining acceptable turnaround times (as established by the Manager of Technical Services) for routine and non-routine analyses.
• Interface with, and provide technical support to Quality Control, Quality Management, Research, Development & Innova-tion, Application Engineering, and Product Management.
• Responsible for writing and maintaining work instructions for all testing performed by the Technical Service team in ac-cordance with the ISO quality system.
• Implement and prioritize 6S protocols to enhance laboratory organization, safety, and efficiency.
Qualifications we are looking for:
Required:
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience working in a lab environment, preferably in manufacturing.
• Advanced knowledge of wet chemistry.
• Ability to communicate in a clear, credible, and effective manner to a wide variety of audiences.
• Industrial technical service and/or field support experience.
• Ability to approach problems creatively and can "think outside the box".
• Ability to work within a team-oriented environment to provide the best possible service to customers.
• Approaches difficult and stressful situations with a positive and constructive attitude.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
• Industrial metalworking fluid experience (coolants, lubricants, cleaners, rust inhibitors, quench fluids, grease, forging lubri-cants).
• Strong analytical chemistry background.
• LIMS administration experience, SQL Server report writing a plus.
• Experience with XRF, autotitrators, manual titrations, quenchometers, viscometers, Karl Fischer, flash point.
