Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer III to join our team, providing expert electrical engineering support. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical systems design, construction, and maintenance, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent, timely and professional specialized electrical engineering support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.
  • Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
  • Typical projects include new and renovation of administration, industrial, research, laboratory, and security facilities.
  • Types of work include: interior and exterior lighting; facility power distribution systems - including standby power generation; telecommunication systems - including voice, data, cable TV and Wi-Fi; security systems - including closed circuit TV; grounding systems; lightning protection systems; audio visual systems; and site electrical distribution - including medium-voltage distribution switchgear, substations, and transformers; site systems distribution; and overhead and underground distribution.
  • Apply engineering skills to effectively assess customer's requirements and develop innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of Electrical Engineering is desired.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional electrical engineering code-compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.
  • Completion of a course accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) for an electrical engineering program or electrical engineering technology program from a college or university for a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on facilities design experience, is required.
  • Experience in Power Distribution including Power Plant Operations & Maintenance, Lighting & Security Systems, Life Safety/Fire, Alarms-MNS/Emergency Lighting, Emergency/Standby Power Systems, and Telecom/Data Distribution.
  • The ability to apply new developments or experimental theories in electrical engineering to problems not readily treatable by conventionally accepted methods.
  • Obtained a mastery of advanced concepts, principles and practices in electrical engineering that enables them to serve as a recognized subject matter expert.
  • Expert knowledge of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to electrical engineering design, including the NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), IEEE C2 (National Electrical Safety Code), and the International Building Code.
  • Expert knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting electrical engineering design.
  • Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to electrical engineering design.
  • Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.
  • Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.
  • Knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance and use of personal protective equipment.
  • The selected employee shall be an electrical utility expert and a life safety subject matter expert.
  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD software, Microsoft Office products, electrical engineering design and analysis software including SKM, and other applicable computer systems and software used by the Command.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others, multi discipline, and lead teams.
  • Knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
