Job Overview
The Town of Fuquay-Varina is looking for a PT Theatre Crew member to join the Arts Center team. If this sounds like the perfect job for you, please apply.
Members of the theatre crew are responsible for a variety of technical theatre responsibilities in support of class productions, community presentations, concerts, and special events and rentals. The Theatre Crew reports to the Director of the Arts Center.
Essential Duties and Tasks
Duties and responsibilities will vary, depending on the requirements of each individual event and may include, although not limited to the maintenance, programming, and design of audio, visual and projection equipment in the theatre, and operation of sound and light boards. Other duties may include:
  • Unload/unpack, pack/load sound, lighting, and stage equipment. Moving sets and equipment during performances. Operation of travelers. Assist with set-up and operation of lighting, sound, and related stage equipment. Provide custodial duties such as but not limited to cleaning, dusting, and mopping floors of theatre stage area.
  • Reports all obvious safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Demonstrates predictable and regular attendance.
  • Able to work independently under general direction.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to keep a 300-seat theatre safe for all community members and visitors, performers, and audience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical theatre experience-light and or sound installation, design, and board operations.
  • Ability to perform physical labor as required.
  • Ability to read written diagrams and instructions.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work efficiently, whether on a team or independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with other employees and the public regarding needs.

Requirements
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid NC Driver's License or State Issued ID
  • Flexible schedule (typically based on production of shows)
