About Lighthouse:
Lighthouse MI is a growing non-profit, established in 2019 when Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter joined forces to offer a stronger collective response to poverty in our Metro Detroit community. With over 80 years of combined experience, Lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope to our neighbors who need it most by offering assistance with emergency basic needs alongside housing programs and supportive services designed to support long-term economic stability. Lighthouse owns and operates Spero Housing Group, a subsidiary non-profit dedicated specifically to developing and operating high quality affordable and supportive housing for persons of low and moderate income, as well as HandUp, a community and crowdfunding platform serving 100+ homeless service agencies and their clients across the United States.
Position Summary:
The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to aid participants in establishing reduction from high-risk dependent alcohol and substance use problems. The Peer Recovery Coach will build a professional rapport by sharing life experiences and education to community resources to reduce or eliminate substance use. The Peer Recovery Specialist will also help support with mental wellness resources. The Peer Support Specialist will create a safe space environment and will act as an advocate for program participants. This position is located in Pontiac, MI, at Beacon Square Apartments. Caseload of 16.
Responsibilities and Duties:
โ€ข Build Trust
โ€ข Assist clients with person-centered goals geared towards the goals they are trying to achieve
โ€ข Provide family and support system with recovery materials and resources
โ€ข Role model and teach life and recovery skills, role model coping skills, and techniques
โ€ข Are well established in their own recovery
โ€ข Attend community meetings, meet with funder and report on the program success and or lack of.
โ€ข Meet with Program Manager/Team for individual supervision
โ€ข Meet with case management team to provide updates, suggestions and resources
โ€ข Document services provided in a timely matter according to Lighthouse Policy and Procedures
โ€ข Perform additional outreach in the community
Helpful experience:
โ€ข High School Diploma or GED
โ€ข Peer Certification
โ€ข Team player, possess strong work ethics, professionally represent Lighthouse
โ€ข Lived experience of homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorder, recovery
