Job Summary
School: Lighthouse Charter School & Delta Elementary Schools
Position: Janitor
Job Status: Substitute/ On call
Reports to: Principal
Job Summary: Provides a variety of maintenance and custodial duties on the school site.
Job Responsibilities:
Communicates with students, staff, parents and the public using tact, diplomacy and courtesy in sometimes confrontational or stressful situations.
Sweeps, vacuums, scrubs and mops floors.
Washes windows, counters and walls.
Performs a variety of dusting duties.
Cleans window coverings, such as drapes and blinds.
Performs minor maintenance repairs to buildings and fixtures and determines when to report more complex maintenance requirements to Principal.
Empties and cleans waste and recycle receptacles. Picks up trash containers and empties into large bins. Must notify Principal when large bins overfill.
Performs emergency cleanup services resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling or illness.
Moves furniture and equipment.
Sets up meeting rooms, classrooms, and other school facilities for special meetings and events.
Sets up equipment for athletic events.
Deactivates/activates site alarm(s).
Turns lights on and off.
Unlock and lock doors and gates.
Raises and lowers flags.
Washes walkways and eating areas.
Cleans drinking fountains.
Cleans, scrubs and disinfects student and staff restrooms, restock paper supplies and soap as needed.
Pick up and delivers school supplies, furniture and equipment.
Maintains various custodial supplies and equipment used in the course of work.
Checks doors, windows and assigned area for vandalism.
Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards.
Understands and applies the vision and mission of River Charter Schools.
Drives occasionally for school business.
Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the department.
