Lightbeam Solutions is hiring a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to join our Clinical Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide direct counseling and recovery support to individuals impacted by substance use disorders in our community.


About the Role

The CSAC will deliver individual and group counseling, facilitate treatment planning, and support relapse prevention strategies. This position works under the supervision of a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Health Professions, Medicaid, and DBHDS standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders
  • Complete assessments, intake forms, and treatment plans in compliance with regulations
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Support client recovery through relapse prevention strategies and education for clients and families
  • Collaborate with supervisors, case managers, and community providers to coordinate care
  • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training


Minimum Requirements:

  • Active certification as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) by the Virginia Board of Counseling
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates or bachelors degree in Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work preferred)
  • At least 2 years experience in counseling individuals with substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of substance use treatment models and recovery principles
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in outpatient, community-based, or integrated care settings
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Crisis intervention training or certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
