Job Summary

The Indiana Production Facility (IPF) is Acuity Brands' largest assembly manufacturing site in the USA. The facility is located about 45 minutes west of Indianapolis in the small town of Crawfordsville, Indiana, in the middle of Montgomery County.  Love the outdoors as much as we do?  Then you'll enjoy the surrounding parks including Turkey Run and Shades State Parks or rent canoes at Clements Canoes Outdoor Center. These scenic locations are perfect for boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and picnicking.  You can also visit a local sporting event at Wabash College or make the short 30-minute drive to DePauw or Purdue Universities.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

We are seeking a highly motivated Production Supervisor - 1st shift with experience driving improvement in a manufacturing or distribution environment.  Responsibilities of this salaried position include:

  • Supervises 30-50 hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Drives safety, quality, and productivity performance in accordance with Lean principles, standard work and customer requirements.
  • Determines daily manpower and work assignments for employees to adjust for fluctuations in demand.
  • Approves payroll, administers corrective action and discipline as needed.
  • May be scheduled on shifts and weekends without additional management support.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
  • At least 3 to 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high volume and cellular.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Technical or Bachelors' Degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 years or 1 previous supervisory experience in a production setting.
  • Experience with Lean principles and exposure to Kaizen and continuous improvement events is preferred.
  • Experience in problem solving, communication and conflict resolution.
  • High degree of comfort with computer usage.
  • Able to read, write and speak English. 
  • Able to stand 10-12 hours per day, lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds frequently.
  • Able to see, hear and comprehend in a noisy environment.
  • Able to tolerate temperature ranges of 40 - 90 degrees F.
  • Able to work other shifts and/or weekend hours.
  • Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish).
