Job description

Who we are:

Visual Comfort & Co. is the premier resource for decorative and architectural lighting, ceiling fans, system controls and automated shading solutions from the most influential designers in the world. We are proud to offer a market-leading range of premium products across categories, styles and price points, remaining committed to beautiful design and, above all, a world-class customer experience.

The Delivery and Service Technician (Box Truck) plays a dual role in both field service operations and professional delivery. This position is equally responsible for the transport, delivery, installation, and ongoing service support of high-value products at customer locations. Operating a company box truck on local and regional routes, this position combines basic technical service work, troubleshooting, physical product delivery, and direct customer interactions.

The role frequently involves delivering into homes or other locations, handling heavy and often expensive items, performing setup or light assembly, and providing a polished “white glove” customer experience. The ideal candidate is hands on, safety minded, reliable, physically capable, customer focused, and committed to maintaining a clean, professional presence while representing the company in customer facing environments.

Visual Comfort Offers:

  • Work-Life Balance: Showrooms operate Monday through Friday
  • Training & Development: A comprehensive and structured training program, complemented by ongoing education and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous vacation accrual and paid time off policies.
  • Holidays: 7 paid holidays per year, in addition to 2 floating holidays.
  • Compensation: Competitive compensation plan
  • Health Benefits: Visual Comfort covers the majority of employee medical premiums, and offers competitive vision and dental coverage available starting the first of the month following your start date.
  • Insurance: Company-provided life insurance and short-term disability coverage.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company matching up to 4%, available beginning the first of the month following your hire date.

How success is defined:

  • Safely operate and maintain a company 18 foot box truck on local and regional routes, complying with traffic laws, DOT requirements, and company safety standards.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload products using proper material handling techniques.
  • Complete scheduled deliveries within assigned time windows while following planned routes and maintaining delivery documentation.
  • Deliver directly to customer homes and other locations, including entering homes when required, while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
  • Provide a high end, white glove delivery experience through careful handling of expensive products and courteous, customer focused service.
  • Perform basic installation, setup, light assembly, and configuration of delivered products at customer sites.
  • Assist with motorized shade installations, including basic setup, configuration, and minor troubleshooting alongside the Shade Installer.
  • Troubleshoot prior installations and perform minor repairs or basic electrical replacements in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Complete accurate paperwork or digital logs and conduct vehicle, tool, and equipment inspections to ensure readiness for daily assignments.

What you will bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in electrical, mechanical, or related fields preferred.
  • Previous experience as a delivery driver, service technician, installer, or similar hands on role preferred; box truck, in-home service, and white glove delivery experience strongly desired.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; CDL not required.
  • Must meet applicable DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements, including maintaining a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT medical card) and the ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with the public, and safely operate a commercial motor vehicle, as required by law.
  • Strong understanding of safe driving practices, route navigation, and time management.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 75-100 lbs. regularly, including maneuvering large or awkward items into homes or job sites.
  • Comfortable using material handling equipment and performing physically demanding work in varying weather and job site conditions.
  • Comfort with minor electrical and mechanical work, including fixture replacement and basic troubleshooting; no electrician license required.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully in customers’ homes or businesses.
  • Demonstrated care when handling expensive, high end products and furnishings.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and apply practical solutions.
  • Clear, effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non technical customers.
  • Dependable, safety focused, detail oriented, and able to work independently while coordinating with internal teams.

Compensation Range: $24 to $26 per hour

Compensation is based on individual factors, including skill set, relevant experience, and work location
