About the Role

Sky Climber is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, optimization, and launch of innovative hoisting systems and components for suspended access and lifting equipment.

This is a high-impact engineering role responsible for driving product innovation, performance, reliability, manufacturability, customer experience, market competitiveness, and margin improvement throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in electromechanical systems, hands-on product development experience, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges from concept through commercialization.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the mechanical design, development, testing, and launch of electromechanical systems, assemblies, and components
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and business requirements into robust, manufacturable product designs
  • Perform engineering analyses including stress, fatigue, deflection, load, and performance calculations
  • Own New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including concept development, design reviews, prototyping, validation testing, and launch readiness
  • Optimize existing products using customer feedback, field performance data, warranty trends, and manufacturing input
  • Drive design improvements that enhance product reliability, safety, usability, and overall customer experience
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives through design simplification, material selection, and process improvements
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers to improve manufacturability and reduce lifecycle costs
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, and field performance issues
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and safety regulations
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), test plans, and technical manuals
  • Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives and provide technical guidance throughout the product development process
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical design and testing experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing electromechanical systems
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
  • Thorough understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, machine design, and fatigue analysis
  • Experience with GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven track record leading product development programs and successful product launches
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hoisting systems, suspended access equipment, lifting systems, or other safety-critical equipment
  • Experience working in industrial equipment, material handling, construction equipment, or related industries
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Experience supporting products from concept through commercialization and field deployment
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work onsite at Sky Climber's Delaware, Ohio facility
  • Ability to work within engineering, manufacturing, and testing environments
  • Occasional travel may be required to customer sites, suppliers, or testing facilities
  • Ability to observe and support equipment testing and validation activities
