Job description

We are looking for a SolidWorks Design Engineer to support the design and development of equipment across Smiley Lifting Solutions’ operations.

You will produce accurate 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings, working closely with in-house CNC machining, fabrication, service, and compliance teams to deliver build-ready crane and lifting equipment.


This role is suited to a practical design engineer who wants their work manufactured, assembled, and used in real-world operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Produce detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings
  • Design crane structures, components, lifting platforms, and counterweight trailers
  • Support SPYDERCRANE adaptation and North American compliance work
  • Prepare BOMs and supporting documentation
  • Revise designs based on engineering, compliance, and workshop feedback
  • Collaborate closely with CNC machining, fabrication, servicing, and compliance teams


Minimum Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Experience with mechanical assemblies and/or fabricated steel structures
  • Understanding of CNC machining and fabrication processes
  • Solid work history and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
