Job description

Description

The Payroll Technician provides administrative support to the payroll function by processing time entry, validating hours work, hourly pay rate, overtime, and other regulatory compliance factors to ensure employees are paid properly.


Position Title: Payroll Technician

Department: Finance

Hours: Full-time; 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday (non-exempt)

Location: Lifeworks Services - Richfield, MN (Hybrid)

Compensation: $20.52 to $22.36 per hour

Bonus Eligible: Yearly

How you'll be spending your time:

  • Preparing and processing biweekly time records, including compiling employee timekeeping data files for payroll.
  • Manually entering paper timesheets for those employees not required to use an electronic (paperless) system to record and report hours worked.
  • Processing termination requests including payout of unused earned PTO.
  • Preparing PTO, Retro Pay, Bonus, and other supplemental payment requests for processing.
  • Validating overlapping hours worked and facilitate resolution cross-functionally.
  • Auditing timekeeping files for accuracy including minimum wage requirements, overtime, and other regulatory compliance prior to file submission for payroll processing.
  • Researching and troubleshooting any customer questions, concerns, or complaints in a timely manner.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by using Lifeworks customer service standards including (but not limited to) answering phones calls, processing customer tickets, and in-person customer service from the administrative office.
  • Supporting Lifeworks timekeeping system improvements and process improvements through team collaboration, idea generation and proposed solutions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or similar field preferred.
  • Experience using payroll programs either in house or hosted.
  • Experience using a customer service ticketing system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel.
