Job Title: Java Developer

Full Time permanent position

Location: Detroit, MI

Job Description

The Java Developer will perform design and development of the solutions built.  

This individual will be responsible for development initiatives as well as contributing to innovation and best practices. 

Work with the delivery management and development teams to translate business strategies and requirements into solutions, articulating technical vision and strategy. 

Develop code to validate architectural design decisions, ensuring maintainability, performance, security, scalability and time to market. 

Contribute to development team's efforts on multiple solutions. 

Education, Experience and Skills Required 

BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.

5 or more years of software development experience. 

Experience with Liferay Portal a plus

Sound understanding of web and application server technologies, including open-source technologies. 

Java server-side design and development experience 

Experience developing web-based UI applications using JSP, Javascript, and AJAX 

Hands-on experiences in Web Services, XML and data persistence layer framework design and development. 

Experience with Hibernate and Spring 

Experience developing portlets according to JSR-168/JSR-286 specifications 

Solid Linux skills including scripting knowledge in languages such as Perl and UNIX shells 

Ability to work in a very dynamic, flexible and creative environment.  

Demonstrated experience with enterprise software systems 

Driven self-starter and a team player. Enjoys a high degree of technical ownership. 

Ability to analyze new technologies, and understand how they affect products today and in the future. 

Ability to communicate effectively with management, development staff, and customers. 

Critical problem solver with the ability to recognize and anticipate problems (technical, operational, process, organizational) and to identify and implement the best practices
