Position Overview

Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking safety-conscious and dependable Lifeguard Assistants who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. As a Lifeguard Assistant, you'll play a major role in supporting a safe and enjoyable waterfront for all campers, while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer.

What You Get To Do

  • Assist in supervising different waterfront areas while campers swim
  • Support in setting up and tearing down waterfront boundaries
  • Assist with movement of waterfront equipment to different areas on campus
  • Support enforcement of rules and regulations of the waterfront

What You Need

  • Availability 6/16/2026 - 8/10/2026
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Able to work in an outdoor environment for an extended period
  • Must be lifeguard certified - training provided free of cost
  • Physically able to assist with preparation, hauling of equipment, cleaning, and maintenance of camp division facilities and spaces
  • Recreation and waterfront staff must have the ability to effectively engage in appropriate communication (verbal and non-verbal) with campers and other staff.
  • Exhibit outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Manage emotions appropriately and professionally in high-stress situations
