Life Enrichment Assistant

The Carriages of Decatur is growing our TEAM and we are looking for people who have a passion for serving older adults. We are seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated Life Enrichment Assistant to help create and direct activities for our Senior’s. Our Life Enrichment program provides opportunities for people to achieve social and educational goals. And to participate in the life of their community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and leading daily life enrichment activities and events.
  • Encourage resident participation in social, recreational, and educational programs.
  • Support group and one-on-one activities that promote engagement and well-being.
  • Help prepare materials, set up activity spaces, and clean up after programs.
  • Observe residents during activities and report any concerns or changes to appropriate staff.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for all residents.
  • Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings as needed.
  • Maintain activity supplies and assist with organizing program areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Be reliable in attendance and work schedules.
  • Organize and utilize time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • Require minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to study; obtain and maintain required professional fitness certification such as SFA, ACE, AFAA and CPR/First Aid certifications and training through home study and/or workshop attendance.
  • Enjoy working with seniors, have sensitivity to their needs and be able to teach and encourage them to learn and engage in the programs.
  • Have ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and/or overtime.
  • A strong desire to help others and compassion for the elderly is a must. 
  • This job requires a high school diploma
  • At least 1 year of experience 
  • A full criminal background check, fingerprinting, physical, drug test, and TB testing are mandatory.
